Hello, it's great to meet you
Whilst originally from the Eastern Cape, South Africa I am currently living in Cape Town with my family and practicing as a professional artist. My subject matter ranges from impressionist landscapes to interpretative abstracts – brought to life with considered mark-making and vibrant colour to achieve visually appealing and evocative art.
Working predominantly in oils, I adore the thick, buttery texture and versatility that this traditional medium offers, and I lean into my background of psychology to create expressive, suggestive and light contrasting pieces with hidden layers of depth.
In both my impressionist landscape paintings (oil) as well as in my more abstract works (mixed medium using acrylic paint and oil pastels) each piece is crafted through application of thick buttery paint as well as scraping back and exposing hidden layers and depths.
Well-considered brushstrokes then bring texture, clarity and representation to my pieces and balance the bright, impressionist energy.
